A leather and sterling silver cigar pouch. This great looking travel pouch is set with a stunning family crest on the front. There is a Latin inscription to the base of the crest; "Via et Arte". This translates to "By Strength and Skill". This piece could well be made of elephant skin, as it has a thick grain to it. Elephant was used in very high end leather goods in the Victorian period, as wealthy families embarked on "Grand Tours" and requested exotic skins as part of their wardrobes upon their return with other "trophies". The case will fit many types of modern cigar due to the sleeve design, it can hold a variety of different lengths. Made in England, circa 1880.
